Director Richard Cordray Has Refused To Answer To Congress Ahead Of Arbitration Rule

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Protect America’s Consumers released the following statement on Richard Cordray’s refusal to release documentation pertaining to any communications between his agency and trial attorney groups:

“Today’s disclosure that CFPB Director Richard Cordray has refused to respond to a Congressional inquiry regarding his communications on a new arbitration rule, seen as a boon for trial lawyers, is troubling. Given Cordray’s deep political ties to trial attorney firms, one has to wonder what is actually contained in his communications on the issue and why it is so important he keeps it hidden from Congress.” – Steve Gates, Spokesman, Protect America’s Consumers
